Neurodiversity at Helix
A community where diverse learners can thrive.

Our Approach to
Neurodiversity
Every kid is an individual, and that's even more true for those who are neurodiverse, gifted, or both. At Helix, our goal is to celebrate each student's unique strengths and help them develop strategies for working with their challenges. We know that the strategies that work for one student won't necessarily work for others. Our commitment is to keep experimenting, keep searching, and keep trying until we figure out what works for each one of our students.

Sensory-Friendly Spaces
Static tables and chairs don't work for everyone. That's why our space is flexible and full of options. Students can work from a bouncy ball or a swing, stretched out on the couch, or bouncing on a trampoline. Our small group sizes help keep noise levels under control, and quiet spaces are always available for students who need them.
Compassionate Staff
All of our staff members have previous experience working with gifted and neurodivergent kids, and most of us have personal or family experience with neurodivergence. We treat your child the way that we would like our family members, and ourselves, to be treated!

Freedom From Comparison
Our customized curriculum and multi-age classrooms allow students to work at their own pace, without the pressure of comparing themselves to others. Every student can take extra time when they need it and skip ahead when they're ready. All students benefit from the opportunity to mentor others, and to act as mentors themselves.
