Helix Celebrates Two Weeks On Our New Campus in Sunnyvale
If you’ve ever moved houses, you know that it can be a challenge. Moving schools is much the same! We are so grateful to our Helix families, our new landlords at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, and most of all, our students for all of their flexibility and grace through this transition. Read on for a photo tour of our new location!

The Classroom
The heart of our school, our classroom is a space for us all to come together. It also supports small group work, and houses our games collection!
With a wide variety of seating options, soft surfaces to reduce noise, and abundant natural light, our classroom accommodates a wide variety of sensory needs and preferences.

The Library
Our school library hosts our collection of children’s books, and includes cozy spots for reading and small-group work.
In addition to the school library, Helix students will have the opportunity to walk regularly to the Sunnyvale Public Library, ensuring our budding readers have a constant diet of books they are excited to read!

The Makerspace
Full of building toys, art supplies, and various odds and ends, our makerspace provides endless opportunities for young tinkerers.
Next quarter, our students are looking forward to cardboard construction - turning our pile of leftover boxes into structures of their own design!

The Cool-Down Room
With a wide variety of regulation tools, from a trampoline to bubble wrap, the cool-down room is a space for students to step away from the busy life of the classroom and return to their best selves.
Resources in the cool-down room help students to identify and name their feelings, choose appropriate calming strategies, and communicate their needs effectively.

We know that sometimes kids just need to move. Equipment like a balance board and trampoline allow students to take a movement break and return to classwork when they feel ready.

Play Spaces
Our new location includes a small private playground and yard for exclusive use of Helix students. We are also across the street from the larger playground at Washington Park, and visit there often!
